This site is dedicated to the Four-Way Test. We publish essays from kids, stories from Rotarians all over the world and other items from individuals who use the test in their daily lives. The purpose of this site is to spread the word of the Four-Way Test and educate people on the merits of the test.

Our Mission

To be a resource and leader in the education and promotion of the Four-Way Test, which includes publishing of essays, articles and opinions surrounding the use of the Four-Way Test.

The Four-Way Test
Rotary International says: from the earliest days of the organization, Rotarians were concerned with promoting high ethical standards in their professional lives. One of the world’s most widely printed and quoted statements of business ethics is The Four-Way Test, which was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor (who later served as RI president) when he was asked to take charge of a company that was facing bankruptcy.

This 24-word test for employees to follow in their business and professional lives became the guide for sales, production, advertising, and all relations with dealers and customers, and the survival of the company is credited to this simple philosophy. Adopted by Rotary in 1943, The Four-Way Test has been translated into more than a hundred languages and published in thousands of ways. It asks the following four questions:

“Of the things we think, say or do:

1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”

About Us and Rotary
Ashlea and I are members of the Rotary Club of Pismo Beach / Five Cities. We have both been on the board for many years and we continue to be very involved in our club. My Father (Clyde) and Step-Mother (Vivian) are members of the Wasilla, AK. Noontime Club. My Father is the Past District Govenor for 2008-2009 in District 5010.

I’m from Alaska and moved to Oregon to attend the University of Oregon. I work for ELEMENTS, Inc., a software company that produces online marketing software for franchise companies. I play basketball twice a week in the a local league, I rock climb at the Crux, and I love to mountain bike but haven’t gone in years… a few years ago I learned to scuba dive, on vacation, in CURAÇAO and has since been on dive trips to Trinidad & Tobago, St. Martin and to Mexico twice… our latest trip was to Turks and Caicos in March of 2007.

Ashlea is a native Californian, born in South Lake Tahoe, and raised in Pismo Beach. She has a B.A. in English Literature from U.C. Santa Barbara, and is now living in Arroyo Grande, working as a Real Estate Agent, visit her web site where Ashlea specializes in Luxury homes in Pismo Beach. Ashlea’s parents still live in Pismo Beach, and celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this past November!! She enjoys spending time with our four pets, shopping and walk the Bob Jones trail.

Jack (our son)
Jack (Jack-jack) Foster Boyer was born on October 7th, 2006 @ 5:04 am. He was 8 lbs 5 oz and 21 inches long and as you can see (if you click on his link) he takes after his mother with blond hair and blues eyes.
